Tumbling ages

When iniquity fills up the earth

Be on the guard look out for the worst

Plagues and disasters mama she ah purge

Lives would be taken many will be hurt

Precious blood ah saturate the dirt

Woe unto woman in this time we give birth

The whole nation living in a curse

Moving backwards stuck in reverse

Still life is a beauty to behold….

We seem to be living in cultural freefall at the moment – wealth inequalities continuing to skyrocket, wars and military invasions raging on unabated, our politics and religion ever more divided, secularism growing rapidly in the West, global civilization poisoning the planet, perhaps to and beyond a point of no return…

Simultaneously, sun is filling my valley, a warm north wind is painting mares’ tails in the blue sky above our hills, white butterflies visit an apple tree, and some insect, possibly a wasp, is hovering around this lounge….

I’m calling this blog Tumbling ages because it seems appropriate for the polarities, disorientation, intersections, and complexity we are living through. My particular focus will be Christianity, the religious tradition I was born into and have practised all my life, and which I’ve been rediscovering with special urgency as a middle adult. I hope this blog might be read by others on their own tumbling journeys of curiosity, disintegration, and wonder.
